Barefoot by the Beach Cottages

Barefoot by the Beach is a colony of four house-keeping cottages situated on Wellfleet bay only steps from the sandy shore which stretches from the famous Mayo Beach to Great Island. Wellfleet Harbor and the Wellfleet town centre are both only a walk away. Two are pictured here, two others are on a small hillside with terrific views.

Built in the old Cape Cod wood style, our cottages have welcomed summer visitors since the 1950s and we uphold the tradition of a simple Cape Cod beach holiday home. True to our "back to sand and basics" philosophy, our cottages are simply and functionally equipped, all with working fireplaces and outdoor as well as indoor showers for showering right after a swim in the salt water. Because we believe that a Cape Cod summer holiday is about beach times and family times around the fireplace we have not equipped our cottages with televisions.

All cottages have three bedrooms with one standard double bed and four twin beds, a kitchen, dining room/area, a living room with fireplace and a bathroom with either bath or shower. The kitchens are equipped with stove, oven and microwave oven, fridge and freezer, but not washing machines (due to water regulations by the beach).

The majority of our guests are "repeaters" but we are always thrilled to welcome newcomers to a traditional Cape Cod summer stay!
